High Tunnel Raising

Hey fam, Hummingbird Springs Farm is getting our very own High Tunnel Greenhouse!

This year we were awarded a contract with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, for their High Tunnel Program! We will be erecting a 30 ft by 72 ft High Tunnel on the farm, and we need your help!

Our friends from Cicada Calling Farm, in Bvlbancha (New Orleans) will be coming out to instruct us, and help us in erecting the High Tunnel! In addition, we will have helping hands from our other dear friends at Speak Easy Farm, Okla Hina Ikhish Holo, Bvlbancha Collective and other partnering amazing organizations in the area!

In addition to learning how to erect a high tunnel:

- Angie from Hummingbird Springs will help instruct people on details of, and how to apply for the USDA Environmental Quality Incentives Program.

- We will have a seed swap! Bring your extra seeds and some bags or envelopes

- Camping and fishing are always available (Bring your tent, camp chair, sleeping bags, and fishing gear)

- Hiking: We are nestled between the Conecuh National Forest and Blackwater State forests, and it's mushroom season!

- Campfires and cookfires: We will have a campfire nightly, we will provide one large communal meal each evening, with the option to grill or cook over an open fire. Bring your favorite dish to share, food to cook, and an empty belly! The evenings of community events are my favorite and are filled with community, breaking bread, and lots of laughter.. Also, we are so remote there is zero light pollution, and you can actually see the Milky Way.

- Email Angie@HummingbirdSpringsFarm.org, or text at 504-595-7287 for the address!
